We spent the night at Erenhot, a rather large city with most new buildings in the middle of nowhere, kind of bizare.
We past a ‘dino-gate’, very dangerous creatures surrounded by lots of friends. 
The most fossels of dinosaurs where found in the gobidessert, therefor it is also called ‘the dinosaur-cemetary’.
Early in the morning our guide Liou headed for the chinees border (about 25 kilometers) to work out the paperwork….. But. It is not as easy as it used to be, in the past cars needed a ’sanitary’-statement. Not necessary in the present, but the costumsoffice does not want to let us pass without. Unfortunately the other office does not wants to give the ’sanitary’-statement and we are left confused.
We used the extra time in Erenhot to after checking the T-ford and place some extra sponsorstickers at the Vito.
At 15.00 we were called by Liou; we could drive to the border. Arrives we arranged the paperwork and said goodbye to our Chinees travelcompanions. We were allowed to leave China!
On the way to the Mongolian border. Our Mongolian-guide is waiting for us and after many fotos with Mongolian-costumagents we were allowed to enter Mongolia.
A strikt woman let Dirk and Peter close the top of the T-ford, and a short look in the Vito and everything was oke again. The guide had to go into the costumsoffice and…. then again not oke. There would be missing papers, whitch had to arrive via Ulaanbatar. The people at the office at Ulaanbatar where already at home, so we needed to wait untill the following morning. The cars had to be stationed at the costumsoffice, we needed to spent the night at least 5 kilometers away. So we left the cars at the office and covered the T-ford. After that we could search for a ‘campsite’ in the dessert.
We went into the dessert with the car of our guide. A Russian one, a lot of rattling with no closing doors put probably indestructable. A real cool car. The driver races over the paths, suddenly he leaves the trail and follows ‘nothing’ a few miles to get to another path. How does he know to find the path?
After selected a real nice camp-site (really totally in the middle of nowhere) put up our tent, and eat something we went to bed.

Early op again, breakfast and break up the camp-site.
Back to the border with the Russian van. During the trip we wonder how the bus can stay right-side-up with a driver like this.
At the border the costums have found out their collegues at Ulaanbater are free on saturday. After fuss their seems to be a new rule which says we need to pay security (21 Euro). When we leave the country we are suppost to get it back. ( a recipe? never heard of)
But… We are allowed to enter Mongolia.
Where the asphalt stops
It’s really cool to drive over these trails, we are driving approximately 40 km/h.
We expect it to become more every day.
After checking the bearing seems oke and we can go one safe. Tomorrow morning we leave early, so we can travel as much kilometers as possible in this enviroment. The ‘city’ we are heading for is over 200 kilometers away. It’s dusty, our guide prommises us we will get ‘rockies’ over about 30 kilometers. Rockies, here we come.

lang_en] This morning early up, so we could start driving at 7.30. It rained so the trail is slippery and wet.
Driving trougy the Gobi-dessert is really supercool, you get the feeling of being Jan de Rooi at Paris-Dakar.
The first 1000 kilometers are completed.
We follow the telegraph poles, the same they used 100 years ago to travel in the right direction.
We assamble Kees, our mascotte!
We have hit a small horse.
On our way we find a Ger-kamp, camels incluis.
A cup of coffee in the Russian van.
A horsedriver posing besides the Ford.
Some pieces have a ‘clay’ underlayment and are really slippery. Uphill with the Vito became a slippery adventure.
We cross the Transmongolian express.

geweldig, willy belde dat er nieuws op de site staat. Wat prachtig dat jullie zo rijden en ik ben zo blij dat te kunnen zien. ik ben thuis maar…… toch in mijn hoofd in mongolie

Hoi globetrotters
Over 20 minuten gaan we in optocht naar de grote kerk om de feesten in te luiden. Jullie doen dat daar, maar weer op een heel andere manier!!!

Gelukkig weer nieuws van jullie. Het zijn toch rare vogels, die douaneambtenaren daar, maar blijkbaar was het luttele bedrag van 21 euro genoeg om weer verder te mogen rijden. Knap hoor!!!
Dit is natuurlijk wel de mooiste reis die iemand kan maken, wat een avontuur, vrijheid, ruimte en schoonheid. Dit lijkt me nou echt het einde.
Het is dat ik de foto’s van de dinosaurussen heb gezien anders zou ik me toch afvragen of jullie niet lijden aan een wonderlijk syndroom dat je kunt oplopen op eindeloze vlakten.
Momenteel ben ik druk bezig met de voorbereidingen voor mijn eigen trip dus ik kan me wel enigzins in jullie situatie verplaatsen en kijk er, mede door jullie verslagen en foto’s, extra naar uit.

ik ben nog gewend, elke woensdag komt d-j eten.
goh wat een dino’s aurusssen daar, wij hebben ze ook gezien op vakantie, in een wildpark in duitsland.daar in die prachtige woestijnvlaktes kan je mooie zandkasteeltjes maken.
